No one will protect what they don't care about; and no one will care about what they have never experienced~ David Attenborough
Hello Friends,
Happy 100th Birthday to David Attenborough — and thank you for inspiring us to fall more deeply in love with the natural world.
Did you know that rats are his least favorite animal, that he helped make tennis balls yellow, and that if he could be any animal, he would choose to be a sloth?
His dislike of rats stems from a memorable night in the Solomon Islands. Staying in a thatched hut during a storm, he was lying in the dark when he felt something moving beneath the sheets. He later discovered it was a rat near his feet — an experience he has never quite forgotten.
In 1967, while working with the BBC, he sent color cameras to the Wimbledon Championships. At the time, tennis balls were white and difficult for viewers to see against the court lines. The International Tennis Federation later tested different options and chose the now-iconic bright yellow for maximum visibility.
As for the sloth, he often jokes that its lifestyle appeals to him—spending most of its time hanging peacefully from trees, sleeping, and generally having very little to do.
In this issue, you’ll discover a delicious and refreshing drink that is wonderfully easy to make; explore how looking backward can help us move forward; learn about a brand named by TIME in May 2026 as one of the ten most influential companies in social good; catch up on what I’ve been reading and watching this past month; and watch a remarkable film documenting a family who rewilded their property in England. What unfolded there is nothing short of extraordinary.
Onwards!
