When we see land as a community to which we belong, we may begin to use it with love and respect. That land is a community is the basic concept of ecology, but that land is to be loved and respected is an extension of ethics. That land yields a cultural harvest is a fact long known, but latterly often forgotten. ~Aldo Leopold
Aldo Leopold was an American writer, naturalist, ecologist, scientist, forester, conservationist and environmentalist.
Hello Friends!
Welcome to the latest issue of my newsletter! I had found that quote before I went to the Real Organic Project Conference last weekend, and you’ll understand after reading this issue how in sync Aldo Leopold’s words are. The more time I spend in my garden, in the meadows, and walking through the woodland, the more I feel that I am part of a community and one that I have deep love and respect for. Attending the conference reinforced my beliefs and expanded my knowledge, which I will share in future newsletters. There was a lot to process from purchased fertility to PFAS, coconut coir to Albert Howard and how Maine is helping farmers remove toxic filled sludge they unknowingly spread on their farms.
Also, I’ve been getting a lot of great feedback about my newsletter. Thank you for all your wonderful messages. I would love to know what your particular interests are and I will do my best to include information about them here.
In the meantime, let me introduce you to some of the stories that are featured in this issue: Pumpkin Seeds health info to best brands + What is Seed Stratification + learn what the Real Organic Project is + Why Plastic Recycling is a Lie + What I’ve been Reading-Watching-Listening to over the past month + a Movie to see. Onwards!
