Newsletter #100
Nature runs on sunlight, uses only the energy it needs, fits form to function, recycles everything, rewards cooperation, banks on diversity, demands local expertise-
curbs excess from within and taps the power of limits. ~ Janine M. Benyus, American science writer and innovator
Dear Friends,
Happy 100th Newsletter!
Thank you to everyone who has been on this journey with me and supported these love letters to nature—and to all of you.
When I began writing this newsletter, I made a promise to myself that every story I shared would spark a genuine sense of excitement and curiosity. I believe that knowledge shared from a place of love nourishes both the giver and the receiver. My hope is that over the years you’ve discovered information that has changed the way you see the world, inspired you to make small but meaningful changes, and reminded you that there is always reason for hope.
This special 100th edition will be published in two parts. In the coming days, you’ll receive a companion issue revisiting some of the most popular stories from past newsletters. Here’s to the next 100 editions—and to continuing this wonderful journey together. Onward!
In this issue, you’ll discover a remarkable superfood that may already be growing in your own garden; visit a Danish island once inhabited by Vikings that has become a global model for renewable energy and community resilience; learn how one beautiful Central American country has taken extraordinary steps to protect its wildlife; explore whether the subject of this edition’s Cabinet of Natural Treasures may have inspired the mythical Golden Fleece of Greek legend; and watch a thought-provoking film that reveals how climate change is transforming communities around the world.
As always, thank you for reading, for your thoughtful messages, and for caring so deeply about the natural world. It is a privilege to share this journey with you.
